The smallest administrative division in Spain is called a municipality with one or more cities, towns or villages governed by a local council. The head of the local council is the mayor who works with councilors in the Town Hall. The local council organizes municipal services: health care services, environmental services, police and fire services, cultural and leisure services and town planning services and education services.

The largest administrative division in Spain is the Autonomous Community. There are 17 Autonomous Community with their own capital city and government, each one is divided into one or more provinces. A province consists of many municipalities.

Spain is a country in south-west Europe, its land consists of:

  • Most of the Iberian Peninsula
  • The Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea
  • The Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean
  • The cities of Ceuta and Melilla on the coast of North Africa.
    • On the Iberian Peninsula Spain borders France and Andorra to the north-east and Portugal to the west. Ceuta and Melilla border Morocco.

We can see advertising in all forms of mass communication. Advertisements provide information about a product or a service to persuade consumers to buy a product.

The Internet is a network of computers connected to each other all over the world by telephone lines. With it:
– we can use search engines to find information
– we can send and receive emails and chat

We communicate with each other every day, using means of communication:
– personal communication: communicate with one person, eg. Letters, telephones, etc.

Many people work in tourism providing services for tourists. Tourism provides many jobs in the service sector.

Trade is the exchange of products and services for money. Trade can be:

– domestic when products and services are exchanged withing the same country

– foreign when they are exchanged with other countries.

There are different stages: producers obtain and make products, trasnporters distribute the products, sales people sell the products and consumers buy the finished product.
